October 18th Daily Devotion - Day 3
Close the Door and Pour
Reading: Matthew 6:6 — In this verse, Jesus instructs His followers to enter a private place, close the door, and pray to the Father in secret, with the assurance that the Father who sees in secret will reward openly.
Devotional: The man of God gave the widow a specific instruction: go inside, close the door, and begin to pour. There is something deeply significant about closing the door. Outside voices, even well-meaning ones, often carry doubt. They look at the small jar and the many empty vessels and say it cannot work. But faith does not require an audience. Faith requires obedience. When we close out the noise of the world and get alone with God, something shifts. The pouring can begin. The filling can start. And what made no logical sense suddenly becomes a testimony. God is not asking you to understand it. He is asking you to close the door and pour.
Reflection: What outside voices or distractions are keeping you from a deeper, more private place of faith and prayer?
Practical Application: Set aside fifteen to twenty minutes today in a quiet, private space with no phone and no distractions. Simply pour out what is on your heart before God and then listen.
