October 11th Daily Devotion - Day 5

He Is the Same God

Reading: Hebrews 13:8 — A declaration that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Also read: Malachi 3:6 — God declares that He does not change, and because of that unchanging nature, His people are not consumed.

Devotional:
The same God who walked with Adam and Eve in the garden is the same God who meets you in your living room this morning. The same God who provided for Abraham, sustained Moses, delivered the children of Israel, and raised Jesus Christ from the dead is the same God who is working in your situation right now.
That is not a motivational statement. That is a theological anchor.
When Sister Becky shared the story of her son's stroke, the 5 percent survival chance, the doctors' prognosis of a life spent bedridden, and then described him hiding from the family just to make them laugh, she was not describing luck. She was describing the same God. The God who has never once failed. The God who has never once been late. The God whose character does not shift with the seasons of your life.
Whatever you are facing today, you are not facing it with a God who is new to the situation. He has seen it all. He has overcome it all. And He is the same.

Personal Reflection: Think back over your own life. Where have you seen God come through in a way that only He could? How does that history with Him strengthen your faith for what you are facing right now?

Practical Application: Write out a personal timeline of moments in your life when God proved Himself faithful. Read it aloud as a declaration of praise. Then add a line at the bottom that reads: "And He is still the same God today." Return to this list whenever doubt begins to creep in.
