Praise Before the Breakthrough
Reading: Acts 16:22-34
Devotional: Paul and Silas did not wait for the chains to fall before they began to sing. They sang while the chains were still on. Midnight is not a time most people associate with praise, but it was precisely at midnight that their worship rose and the foundations shook. The breakthrough did not produce the worship. The worship produced the breakthrough. And when the prison doors flew open, it was not only Paul and Silas who were affected. Every prisoner in that place experienced the power of two men who chose to magnify God over their circumstances. Your praise has reach beyond what you can see.
Reflection: Is there an area of your life where you have been waiting for a breakthrough before you offer praise? What would it mean to reverse that order?
Practical Application: Identify one difficult circumstance you are currently facing. Write down three specific attributes of God that are greater than that circumstance. Speak them aloud today as an act of worship.
