October 4th Daily Devotion - Day 3
Renewed From the Inside Out
Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 — Paul acknowledges the outward body is wasting away, yet declares the inward person is being renewed day by day, and calls believers to fix their eyes on what is unseen and eternal rather than what is temporary.
Devotional:
Paul does not sugarcoat the reality of physical decline. He names it plainly: we are wasting away. But he refuses to let that reality have the final word. The same passage that acknowledges our outer frailty declares our inner renewal. Every single day. This is not wishful thinking. It is a supernatural work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a surrendered believer. The key, Paul says, is perspective. Where are your eyes fixed? When we stare too long at the temporary — our aching bodies, our difficult circumstances, our broken world — we lose sight of the eternal. But when we lift our gaze to what is unseen, the eternal weight of glory begins to outshine every present trouble. Fix your eyes today.
Personal Reflection: What temporary concern has been consuming most of your mental and emotional energy lately?
Practical Application: Write down one eternal truth about God that directly speaks to your current struggle. Return to it every time anxiety or discouragement rises today.
