October 25th Daily Devotion - Day 1

The Longing Soul

Reading: Psalm 42:1-11

In this psalm, the writer captures the ache of a soul in the cave — exhausted, surrounded by enemies, longing for something only God can provide. Like David outside Bethlehem, longing for water from a familiar well, we all carry deep longings for simpler, more peaceful times. But God does not despise our longing. He hears it. He meets us in it. Rather than burying your longing today, bring it to the Lord honestly. Name what you are thirsting for. Then allow that longing to become a doorway into deeper trust and worship, even before the answer arrives.

Personal Reflection: What are you longing for right now, and have you brought that longing honestly before the Lord?

Practical Application: Write down your deepest longing today. Pray over it specifically, surrendering it to God and choosing to praise Him in the waiting.
