September 13th Daily Devotion - Day 3

The Narrow Road

Reading: Matthew 7:13-14 -- a passage in which Jesus describes two paths: a wide road leading to destruction and a narrow gate leading to life, with few finding the latter

Devotional: Jesus was not being exclusive when He described the narrow gate -- He was being honest. The road that leads to life requires a choice, a surrender, and a turning away from self. It is not the most popular road. It will not always be the most comfortable road. But it is the road that leads somewhere worth going. The sermon reminded us that our calling is to help widen that narrow road through evangelism, through service, and through the witness of our lives. We cannot make the gate wider, but we can point more people toward it. Every life we touch with the gospel is one more person who finds the way.

Reflection Question: Who in your life needs someone to point them toward the narrow gate?

Practical Application: Pray specifically for one person by name this week who does not yet know Jesus. Ask God to open a door for you to share the gospel with them, whether through your words or the example of your life.
