October 4th Daily Devotion - Day 2

Fresh and Flourishing at Every Age

Reading: Psalm 92:12-14 — The righteous are compared to a palm tree and a cedar, described as bearing fruit even in old age, remaining fresh and flourishing.

Devotional:
God does not retire His people. He does not set them aside when the years accumulate or when the body begins to slow. Psalm 92 makes a bold declaration: those planted in the house of the Lord will still bear fruit in old age. The word translated "flourishing" in the original Hebrew carries the idea of being full of oil, green rather than brown, alive rather than dried out. This is not a promise of perpetual youth. It is a promise of perpetual purpose. Like Caleb, who at 85 years old still asked God for a mountain to climb, we are called to stay spiritually alive and engaged no matter our season. Grouchiness is not a spiritual gift. Fruitfulness is. Ask God today to renew your sense of calling and keep you green.

Personal Reflection: In what ways have you allowed age, weariness, or disappointment to slow your spiritual engagement?

Practical Application: Identify one specific way you can contribute to your church or community this week, regardless of your age or current limitations.
