September 13th Daily Devotion - Day 4

Faith That Works

Reading: James 2:14-17 -- a passage teaching that genuine faith produces action, and that faith without corresponding deeds is lifeless

Devotional: James is not teaching that good deeds earn salvation. He is teaching that genuine salvation cannot help but produce good deeds. When the Holy Spirit takes up residence in a life, that life begins to change from the inside out. New desires emerge. A hunger for Scripture, for prayer, for serving others -- these are not burdens placed on the believer. They are the natural fruit of a transformed heart. As the sermon stated, those works are evidence that you are saved, not the means by which you are saved. Let your faith be visible today. Let someone see Jesus in the way you love, serve, and give.

Reflection Question: What fruit is currently visible in your life that points others toward Christ?

Practical Application: Choose one tangible act of service this week -- meeting a practical need for someone in your church, neighborhood, or community -- and do it without drawing attention to yourself.
